Cat & Cage Folk Club – Aespeniđa

Aespeniđa (which can also be written as Aspenitha) are an acoustic duo performing experimental Nordic Folk. Barry Nisbet (Shetland – vocals, fiddle & guitar) & Miriam Iorwerth (Argyll – marimba and percussion) write and arrange instrumental and vocal music, bringing together Traditional and Classical styles. Their inspiration is drawn from the fringes of geography, music, human experience & language – Barry’s native Shaetlan, the lost Shetland Norn & accented English. Miriam’s technologist background & the duo’s fascination with experimentation, combined with ancient melodies, styles & languages, gives their music a highly retro-futuristic aspect.
